Pilates has become incredibly popular over the past few years, and for good reason. It is a wonderful method for developing strength, control and body awareness. But with Pilates being offered in so many different ways today, I personally feel it is important to keep coming back to the fundamentals. Because that is where it all begins: understanding and feeling what you are doing. With that in mind, I’m happy to share that I’ll be teaching a regular weekly Gentle Pilates class at Movements Curaçao starting at the end of October.
In my classes, I place a little more emphasis on technique, breathing and controlled movement. We work with the classical principles of Pilates, while also exploring how they can be applied using today’s knowledge and understanding of the body. My background in yoga also plays a role in my approach. Although Pilates and yoga have their own distinct foundations, both invite you to become more aware of your body and the way you move.
Whether you are new to Pilates or have been practising for a while, there is always value in returning to the basics. By paying attention to how you perform each exercise, you can refine your technique and develop a deeper awareness of your body. My classes are suitable for both beginners and more experienced practitioners. Together, we work on building a strong foundation that you can take with you into other Pilates classes and workouts.
Starting at the end of October, I’ll be teaching every Tuesday morning at 9:15 AM at Movements Curaçao.
