Here you’ll find answers to the most frequently asked questions about private yoga sessions and group classes that I offer on Curaçao.
1. Do I need yoga experience to join a session or class?
No experience is needed at all. Private sessions are actually perfect for beginners, as we can take the time to explore the basics at your own level and pace. You don’t have to be flexible, strong, zen or any of that to start with yoga.
If you join one of my weekly group classes, I’ll make sure you feel welcome and supported. I also offer variations of poses wherever possible, as I believe it is important to make the classes inclusive for everyone.
2. I have injuries or physical limitations. Can I still book a session or join a groupclass?
Yoga is suitable for everybody and every body, and there is always a style that matches your needs. At its core, yoga is much more than just movement, making it ideal for anyone interested in practising. Whether a session is suitable depends on your specific injury or condition, but in many cases, yoga can be modified with adjustments to accommodate you. If you are unsure, feel free to contact me; I’m happy to discuss the possibilities beforehand. I always honestly assess whether I’m the right person to guide you. If I feel a colleague on Curaçao has more specialised experience for your situation, I will gladly refer you so you can receive the best possible guidance.
If you are interested in joining one of my weekly group classes, please let me know in advance if you have any injuries or limitations so that I can offer modifications. Often, many adjustments are possible.
3. I’m Pregnant. Can I join a class or book a private session?
First of all, congratulations on your pregnancy! 💛 If you were already practising yoga before your pregnancy, you can often continue your practice, provided it feels comfortable and your healthcare provider has not advised otherwise. During my classes, I can offer appropriate modifications to support your changing body and help you practise safely and confidently throughout your pregnancy. Please let me know before class if you are pregnant, so I can guide you with any adjustments that may be helpful.
If you’re new to yoga, pregnancy can also be a wonderful time to begin. In that case, prenatal yoga is often the most supportive place to start, as the classes are specifically designed around the changing needs of your body during pregnancy. I have completed a Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training and offer private prenatal yoga sessions in Curaçao tailored to your individual needs and stage of pregnancy.
Every pregnancy is unique, so I always encourage you to listen to your body and consult your healthcare provider if you have any questions or medical considerations. Feel free to get in touch to discuss which option would be the best fit for you.
I am also available for collaborations with yoga studios or other places that are looking for a prenatal yoga teacher for their community in Curaçao.
4. Are all your yoga classes fully Trauma-sensitive?
My regular weekly classes are trauma-informed, meaning I integrate trauma-sensitive principles, language, and cueing into my teaching. However, they are not fully 100% trauma-sensitive yoga sessions. In a group setting, my guidance sometimes needs to be more structured, directive, and prescriptive in order to support the group as a whole and the specific class’s intention. At the same time, I always aim to leave as much space as possible for choice, for listening to and connecting with the body, and for creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment. A fully 100% trauma-sensitive approach is available in one-on-one sessions or in specially designed group classes upon request.
5. Which yoga styles should I choose?
Each session is tailored to your intention and energy level. We can also discuss your goals beforehand, so I can advise which style suits you best. You can choose from:
• Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, or Yoga Nidra for deep relaxation and restoration
• Hatha Flow, Gentle Flow, or Soft Power Flow for more movement and strength
• Classic/Gentle Pilates if you want to work on core strength and proper muscle activation
• Combination sessions blending different styles, such as Hatha & Yin or Flow & Yin
You can read more about the different yoga styles I offer [here]. You can also add breathwork, sound elements, or Thai Yoga Touch for a more complete experience; more details on that [here].
6. What should I bring to a private yoga session?
Wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle and, optionally, a towel. For outdoor sessions, it can be helpful to apply sunscreen or insect repellent beforehand. Even in the morning or in the shade, the Caribbean sun can be strong.
7. Where do private sessions in Curaçao take place?
Sessions can take place wherever you feel most comfortable:
• At your home or vacation accommodation, indoors or outdoors (e.g., on a porch, palapa, or shaded garden space)
• At the beach or in nature. Note that not all beaches are public. Some locations require permission for organised sessions. Especially for larger private groups, it’s wise to check in advance.
• In my small home yoga room (maximum 2 participants)
• Or in a yoga studio in Pietermaai/Willemstad (upon request)
8. What happens if the weather changes during an outdoor session?
Tropical showers sometimes occur but are usually short and can even feel refreshing. Most outdoor sessions are held in locations that offer shade or shelter.
During the rainy season (October–December), it’s advisable to choose a spot with rain protection. During the hurricane season (May–September), shade is also important, as temperatures can be slightly higher due to calmer trade winds.
9. Are mats and props provided?
Yes. I provide high-quality mats, props, and everything you need so you can fully relax and enjoy the session.
10. Can I book a session with friends or family?
Yes, private group sessions can be organised for small groups of up to approximately 10–12 participants. It’s a wonderful way to share a meaningful experience together.
11. What is the best time for an outdoor session?
Morning or sunset sessions are usually most comfortable:
• Morning: around 8:00 AM (cooler and calm atmosphere)
• Sunset: around 5:30 PM, depending on the season
12. How do I book a session?
Simply contact me via email or WhatsApp, and we’ll plan the session together.
13. Are you, or do you own a yoga studio?
No, I am a yoga and Pilates teacher who provides private sessions on location throughout Curaçao. I do have a small home yoga space for up to 2 participants for private sessions. Additionally, I teach group classes at various locations on the island, including yoga studios and health/fitness clubs. You can see all the places where I teach in Curaçao [here]. Learn more about me as a teacher [here].
14. How much does a private session or group class cost?
Private sessions start from:
• 65 USD/EUR for island visitors
(additional costs may apply for groups of 5+ participants or travel fees depending on the location)
• 85 XCG for local residents (with Sedula)
